Functional characterization and expression analysis of c-type and g-like-type lysozymes in yellowtail clownfish (Amphiprion clarkii)

Lysozymes are well-known antibacterial enzymes that mainly target the peptidoglycan layer of bacterial cell wall. Animal lysozymes categorized as g-type, c-type, and i-type based on protein sequence structural differences. In this study, c-type (AcLysC) g-like-type (AcLysG-like) from Amphiprion clarkii were characterized in silico via expressional functional approaches. According to analysis, open reading frames AcLysC AcLysG-like 429 bp 570 bp, respectively, encoding corresponding polypeptide chains with 142 189 amino acids. Elevated expression levels observed liver heart tissues, evidenced by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assays. transcript upregulated gills, head kidney, blood cells following experimental immune stimulation. Recombinant exhibited potent lytic activity against Vibrio anguillarum, whereas recombinant showed remarkable harveyi Streptococcus parauberis, which was further scanning electron microscopic imaging destructed walls. The findings study collectively suggest potential roles host defense.
